Here's how you can speed your Windows XP up if you have been experiencing slow performance. There are lot of things you can do to free RAM and stuff so here are some:

1. Disable visual effects. This is the first thing you can do to lower the memory intake:
a. Go to your desktop, right click My Computer and click Properties.
b. Go to the Advanced tab and click Setting at the Performance section.
c. Here you can choose between 'Adjust for best appearance' or 'Adjust for best performance'. Choose 'Adjust for best performance'.

d. However if you do not like the classic style you can always switch back.

2. Download CCleaner. This program will clean up useless registries left by programs you removed that clutter up and slow down your computer.
- Click here to download CCleaner

I'll edit in more soon; e.g disabling services

Another easy thing to do is to.. REFORMAT... change it to NTFS if you are using FAT / FAT32.. it's a lot faster because it uses Indexing... unlike the old file system FAT / FAT32... Another thing u could do is.... Defrag your HDDs.. You can do that by - Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > Disk Defragmenter. It might take a while depending on your HDD and fragments that are in them.. =P
